Palin's Laughable Foreign Policy "Experience"

Congratulations! Now that you have seen this map of Russia, you have the same foreign policy experience as Sarah Palin!

Sarah Palin's lame defense of her foreign policy experience in her interview with Katie Couric shows that either she's a complete and total moron or she thinks we are. Not only does she try to claim that being next to Russia amounts to foreign policy experience, but she expresses surprise that this stance has been mocked.

Katie Couric: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

Sarah Palin: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and, on our other side, the land-boundry that we have with Canada. It's funny that a comment like that was kinda made to … I don't know, you know … reporters. Couric: Mocked?

Palin: Yeah, mocked, I guess that's the word, yeah.

Couric: Well, explain to me why that enhances your foreign-policy credentials.

Palin: Well, it certainly does, because our, our next-door neighbors are foreign countries, there in the state that I am the executive of. And there…

Couric: Have you ever been involved in any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

Palin: We have trade missions back and forth, we do. It's very important when you consider even national-security issues with Russia. As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right next to, they are right next to our state.

When she says this stuff, does she actually think it sounds like a good answer? Saying that being next to a country amounts to foreign policy experience is like claiming you had sex with someone because you stood in line behind them in the grocery store checkout line.

I can't believe anyone is actually considering voting for that moron.

There is nothing wrong in her statements, when read in context.

People living in Alaska would have normally more interest in Canada or Russia than most other Americans.

As to foreign affairs, Biden and McCain know something, Obama knows almost nothing, and the same goes for Palin.

She's brilliant, John McCain is brilliant, and I can't wait for the VP debate with smug, arrogant, condescending Joe Biden (who has disappeared, btw, since he's such a loose cannon disaster) - she'll come across as reasonable and decent, while Biden will continue to be a horse's ass and likely say something offensive .. still confused how a Chicago machine politician and a guy who's been in the Senate longer than you and I have been alive claim to be any sort of "change." (note I'm not saying that J-Mac is much change either - that's just as ludicrous)

Since when is having an interest in CANADA useful? Canada doesn't go to war. Canada isn't even interesting. If being interested in Canada is a criteria for VP, then sign up Kid Rock - he was boning Pam Anderson, and she's Canadian...and that's MORE experience than Palin. Stop trying to make excuses for her. She's a complete and total fool.

smug? arrogant? condescending? Sounds like rmg is talking about Palin. She is so obnoxious and is constantly telling lies. She did not sell the plane on ebay, she did not say "thanks, but no thanks" to the bridge to nowhere money and Alaska does NOT produce 20% of the US energy. Am I the only one that felt a little rage when she made a childish face and mockingly stuck her finger in the air because "Obama would see which way the wind blows?" She is the worst vice presidential candidate ever.

While Sarah Palin is scary enough in her own right, the fact that John McCain selected her is terrifying! The "Maverick" who has so obviously sold his soul for the nomination, took that last step off the cliff and selected Palin after a minimal vetting process. The only apparent reason for her selection would seem to be the misguided idea that she would get Hilary supporters or make McCain seem "young, hip and a rebel!" Palin is a living, breathing follower of the Bush Doctrine...even if she doesn't know what that is. Go on Sarah, let God guide your foreign policy. It's worked so well for George. If people actually vote for this trainwreck, I'm moving to Canada.

If McCain and Palin get elected I may have to kill them both.
